Sooo I can’t sleep again..

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

I’m halfway (hopeful estimation to say the least) moved into my new house, and I have to have the rest of my stuff moved by Friday morning.  It’s going to be a really hectic week, and I’ll be insanely busy for most of it.  I should be more stressed, or more frantic, or something.. but I just don’t feel the need to start packing up my kitchen stuff yet.  I have all my clothes in the new house (oops), all my DVDs as well as my 360, and pretty much everything except my couch, TV, workstation and kitchen stuff moved.  I figured with no distractions, I’d be able to focus on nothing but packing up the rest of my apartment and grinding.

I’m pretty sure I am ahead of schedule on the packing, considering it should just take a solid day’s work to get the kitchen packed.. so I decided to put in some hours tonight.  I made the mistake of playing after posting my monthly graph in BBV, and as everyone knows, that’s destined to make me lose.  Well, I lost a buyin at 400, a buyin at 600, and a buyin at 1k over something like 2500 hands (5.5 hours!).  I’m REALLY disappointed in my play, but a lot of it was flips all-in pre.

I have entirely NO room to complain though as this is my new best month by like $10k, so no matter what I happen to do today will screw it up (hopefully!).  That’s enough about poker though, there’s too much poker in this blog.

Life will be awesome in like 2 weeks.  First of all, I will be moved into my new place with Skyler and her son and her cousin Todd.  It will cut down on my monthly payments, will keep me involved with people and not so holed-up, for lack of a better term.  I think it’s gonna be awesome, hopefully nothing happens to fuck it up.  The second reason why life will be awesome is that I’m FINALLY turning 21 on September 9th.  I don’t drink or anything, but just to know that I can go into bars and clubs and stuff feels like some huge weight lifted off my shoulders, even though there’s really nothing that I’ll enjoy then that I can’t now.  Whatever, I’ll be happier, so it must count for something.

I promise to take and upload pictures once we get most of the stuff moved into the house, it’s mostly just chillin’ in the living room now while we get the rest of our crap moved in.  Some stuff about the house though while I have time:  It used to be a frat house, it’s about 50ft from Bowling Green State U.  It has 5 bedrooms, 2 baths, and was completely tore apart and remodeled before we moved.  There is new carpet in every room in the downstairs and new wood flooring in both the bathrooms and in the kitchen and laundry room.  The upstairs bedrooms just got the wood re-finished or whatever, but it’s all good.  There’s new countertops and cabinets in the kitchen, and new vanities and utilities in the bathrooms, and new paint in every room.  It’s basically ALL new, and I can’t wait until we get electric and cable and all that hooked up so I can stay the night.

Yesterday (Friday), my friends Amber and Kristen, that I haven’t seen in like 3 years, went to Toledo to get Amber’s 3mo. old daughter’s pictures taken by our mutual friend (and my best friend) Brooke, and after that we all walked around the mall and stuff for a while and got dinner.  I wasn’t hungry due to eating while I was in BG with Skyler, but got a couple of cookies and a blue raspberry Icee (when did they start making blue raspberry Icees?  Never seen them before and LOVE them) and while I was eating, Whitney (Amber’s daughter) like wouldn’t take her eyes off of me.  I dunno if it was the cookie or me, but they were all saying how I have a new little girlfriend, so that was kinda cute.

At around 6:30 I drove back home, and due to being awake for 27 hours, almost drove off the road 3 times.  Like, I never fall asleep while driving, but I almost did on more than one occasion on the drive home.  Such scary shit, like I woke up over the yellow line all 3 times.. I finally made it home and went straight to sleep (for 14 hours!).  Woke up to my mom banging on my door to get some of my heavier stuff moved to the house (sofa, bookshelf, etc..).  Love her to death, she’s saving me so much money on everything.. I gotta repay her at Christmas!  :)

I think that’s all for now, finally I have some life stuff to put into this blog, expect a lot more life stuff from now on as I’ll be around a LOT more people with the college being so close and whatnot.

Run well!

Back home from Turning Stone!

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

So I wrote a decent-ish TR of the first few days of my stay at Turning Stone, but I don’t feel like finishing it.  I may put it up on a new page sometime this week if there’s enough interest, but really it’s pretty boring.  Spent most of my time in the room grinding and eating room service, and played a bit of live pokers.  Had little to no money on me due to the Moneygram fiasco, so I was playing like 200max and 300max for the first few days and I just spewed unnecessarily because it was boring.  On the Friday before I left, I got a bit of money and played 5/5 500max, and ended up leaving with $2k, so that was fun.  I won a few hundred the next few days and ended up -$1500 or something similar but I think I ended up about even in poker, just paid for a lot of things and gas is expensive.

PJo and I golfed with craigthedeac and his friend Randy on I think Thursday, and it was pretty fun despite getting hustled out of $104.95.  Definitely felt good to golf again even though I played pretty bad, it was definitely the nicest course I’ve ever played on.  I also met BobboFitos, Clayton and Gary Stevenson from 2+2 for the first time, they’re all really cool.  Also met Wraths Unanimous, mdom88, dbc and rudikulous as well, all pretty awesome guys and people I could def hang out with again, but I digress because it’s time for the fun stuff.

I played approximately 13k hands while at Turning Stone, and took shots at some higher games and it went insaaanely well.  I’m pretty sure I love 5/10, at least until my heater ends.  Here’s the graph and stats from my entire Turning Stone trip:

So like, obviously this probably isn’t sustainable (*grin*), but it feels damn good to move up and run good.  I’ll be playing 5/10 some more, trying to take shots in some of the tougher games just to see how I stack up with decent regulars.  I have a LOT of stuff to do tomorrow since I’ve been gone for so long so I’m gonna bounce, but I’ll update later this week most likely.

Back to MSNL, Turning Stone

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

So I haven’t written anything in the last few days, but that’s basically because I don’t feel like I have much to write about.  My laptop arrived last Thursday or Friday and I’ve played maybe 3k hands on it.  I feel like it’s a gift from above because it’s gotten me back to 4 tabling and really playing well again.  I’ve been so caught up in 6-12 tabling and trying to get the most hands in lately and it’s just burnt me out and has me playing horribly.  So since my last blog post, I’m up maybe $3k or so, and feeling really good about my game.  As such, I’ve played a bit of 2/4 recently and today I found some soft spots in 3/6 and 5/10 games.  It’s really nice to be back at MSNL and I look forward to staying there this time (plz life, don’t get in the way again!).

I leave in about 56 hours for Turning Stone.  I really want/need a vacation.  I’m sick of Ohio, I’m sick of the same mundane schedule of waking up and browing 2+2 for a while and then grinding until I fall asleep.  I’m sick of everything being the same.  I know I’ll be making a post in about a week saying something to the tune of “I’m sick of TS, I’m sick of the crazy lifestyle, and I’m sick of live poker” but damn it right now it sounds fun.

Not too much else to say, just wanted to give a quick update since it’s been a week since I wrote in this thing, here’s my month so far (click to view full size):

So, as you can see, rostucko and feeling good since dropping back to 4 tables.  Quality > quantity by far.  Good luck at the tables, I’ll be reporting next time from TS!

A little about life, a little about poker, a lot about MEHHHH.

What’s up guys?  Trying to find time to write in this thing as much as I can, but I just don’t have much to write about.  I bought a laptop on July 31st for my upcoming trip to Turning Stone, and I rationalized that I could just 12 table for a couple of weeks and get Supernova (I was 32k VPP away at the time) and concierge the laptop so it would basically be free.  Well fuck 12 tabling.   The cost of me 12 tabling as opposed to 6-8 tabling is wayyy more than $1100, so I’ll be saying goodbye to Supernova + concierge, at least for now as I’ve gone through a 23ish buyin downswing so far this month by way of bad flops, bad play and bad spew.  Here’s a graph so far of the month, high point is around ~$650, low is LOWWW.  This is all nl200.

So, as you can see, crash landing, etc.  I’m playing too autopilot-ish, too robotic, and too spewy.  Cutting back to 6 tables and rebuilding for the next week or so, should be fun.

On the life side of things, it’s going pretty well… other than my sleeping habits.  I was supposed to go home for the Carey Fest (retarded festival in my hometown that usually bores me out of my mind) on Saturday to see my favorite 10 year old (lol :)) and possibly hang out with my little sister.  Well, I slept from 9pm-5am the night before and decided that I could take an hour nap before I left.  That hour turned into 7 and I woke up at something like 8:30pm.  Oops.

So Sunday I was supposed to head home to see my aunt who was in town from Texas.  I ended up grinding from like 2am-9:30am and figured I didn’t have enough time to sleep because I’d do exactly what I did the day before.  I went home and chilled with the family and had a good time.  We ordered pizza and watched fireworks after.  I got home around 10:30pm and played COD4 with a few guys from 2+2 until I passed out from exhaustion at like 2am.

Upon waking up, and realizing that it was 8pm and that I slept for 18 hours, I’ve done nothing productive since, and I hate it.  So I decided to blog and be a whiny, emo girl.  So there, I’m all better.  Tomorrow I’m supposed to be heading to Columbus to hang out with my friend Holly and her boyfriend (I think he’ll be there, dunno) and stuff, so that should be fun.  Hopefully I get my sleep back on schedule!

Stay cool,
Trevor

My First Post

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

Hey guys, and welcome to my new blog.  For those unfamiliar, my name is Trevor Hackworth (known as ‘thac’ on many poker sites/forums).  I’m a 20 year old “professional” poker player, although that term is used way too lightly these days with the internet poker boom.  I don’t go to school, I don’t have a job, I do nothing but poker and poker-related things for my money; I’m a professional.  Anyways, I play mostly 200nl, with a bit of higher stakes but mainly sticking at 200nl for the most part since it’s basically a stress-free way to make money.

I’m a moderator at 2+2’s Micro Stakes forum and have been for the last 6-7 months.  It’s nice to give back to the community that first started my growth as a poker player and I enjoy helping out everyone and making new friends that I wouldn’t have had I not stuck around the community.  Recently, I’ve made 3 poker videos for the forum, and they were very well-received, to the point that I caught the attention of DeucesCracked.com.  I’ve been a member of the site for quite a while and have watched a majority of the poker videos, so it’s kind of a weird realization that eventually I can make these videos that everyone is watching.

I don’t really know what else to put here, but it’ll be my place to whine, moan, and occasionally brag about poker stuff, as well as possibly some life stuff thrown in.

Take care,
Trevor
